SINGAPORE – Two workers have died after falling into the sea while moving cargo at Tuas Port on the morning of Sept 22.
In a media reply on Sept 23, a spokesperson for PSA Singapore, which operates the port, said the incident happened at about 8.40am, when the workers were performing stevedoring work.
This refers to the process of loading, unloading, stacking and securing cargo on ships at port terminals.
The spokesperson added that after the workers fell and were found, one of them was pronounced dead. The other was taken to hospital, where he subsequently died.
“PSA is working closely with the relevant authorities, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. We are providing support to the families of the workers during this difficult time,” said the spokesperson.
