LEGO Dragon Ball Sets Announced

Rumors have been percolating around the internet for a while, but LEGO just confirmed it: Dragon Ball LEGO sets are coming soon.

A short video teaser posted to LEGO’s website and social pages shows six Dragon Balls gathered, followed by a seventh rolling in. Then the screen flashes to a blue-and-red Dragon Ball logo, followed by a LEGO logo and “Adults Welcome.” That means we can expect at least one LEGO Dragon Ball set, and possibly more, aimed at adult LEGO builders, rather than kids.

Assuming this teaser plays out like other recent LEGO announcements, we can expect to see details of LEGO’s upcoming Dragon Ball set(s) in the coming weeks.

For now, there’s no word on any specific Dragon Ball sets or release dates. The furthest-out release date for any announced LEGO sets is January 1, which is when the LEGO Super Mario minifigure sets will hit store shelves (some of those sets are available for preorder now).

Dragon Ball was created by Akira Toriyama as an anime TV series that ran from 1986 – 1989 in Japan. It has since turned into a whole franchise of additional TV series, movies, video games, and more.

LEGO’s teaser shows six Dragon Balls, yellow-orange spheres with varying numbers of red stars on them. While six Dragon Balls together have no special power, introducing the seventh makes them able to summon their Eternal Dragon, who can grant wishes. That’s what’s implied when the seventh ball rolls in during the teaser video, right before it ends.

This new Dragon Ball joins a growing list of anime-themed sets, including One Piece, KPop Demon Hunters, and Pokémon. For more, check out the release dates for all upcoming LEGO sets announced so far.
