Yoga Inc. ceased operations abruptly on Friday (Sept 18), closing its two remaining studios at Punggol and Tampines.
Over 30 yoga instructors are owed wages and a number of customers who recently purchased packages are unable to get refunds, Lianhe Zaobao reported.
A freelance yoga instructor surnamed Liu, who has been working with Yoga Inc. for over a decade, told Zaobao he was only notified about the company’s closure on Friday via text message.
The message read: “I know that this news is difficult to accept and heartbreaking for many of us. I’m sorry to all those affected by this sudden change.”
According to Liu, Yoga Inc’s 32 instructors are typically paid on the 15th of each month but they have yet to receive payment.
They have reported the matter to the Ministry of Manpower.
Yoga Inc. also closed its studios in Tanjong Pagar and Bedok in June and August, allowing customers to continue taking classes in its outlets at SAFRA Punggol and Our Tampines Hub.
