Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave‘s free time is abundant, even if it doesn’t seem that way in the first few chapters. By the time you reach the Heroic Games’ qualifying rounds, though, you can expect to start each chapter with dozens, if not closer to a hundred, turns of free time. Fortune’s Weave gives you a lot to do in that time, but not real guidance for how to plan your days. Of course, you’re free to do whatever you see fit, but if you want to make things a bit less overwhelming, there’s a flexible schedule you can follow to help make the most of each month.

How to spend free time each month in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Your first hefty stretch of free time gives you close to 100 turns to do whatever you think is best. Tempting as it may be to head out and chart the whole of Dagda, you really shouldn’t. Instead, build your plans around returning to Dagsion once per week to do weekly activities. They refresh on Sunday at midnight, and they are:
- Having meals at the inn to raise support levels
- Giving gifts to allies and units you want to recruit
- Doing Bird Time sessions
- Training at the arena (only available during the morning, afternoon, and early evening — not overnight)
- Performing temple service
- Tending animals (if you’re playing as Cai)
- Using the thermae and visiting the theatre (though these only unlock at higher renown levels)
Training, dining, and gift-giving are essential for getting your army in the right shape for future battles, and you should take every opportunity to do them. Temple service is very helpful, too, since that’s how you unlock new blessings. Bird Time won’t pay dividends until much later in the game, but since Act 1 is the only time you can do it, it’s worth taking the time for it.
One way to make sure you can do these activities as often as possible is to plan your trips out so you come back to Dagsion on Sunday morning or afternoon. Then you can head out again, do whatever you need to do, and repeat the process. Segmenting your exploration helps with this, too. Of course, you don’t have to be back in the city on Sunday. As long as you’re there sometime in the week before activities refresh again, it’s all good. Setting a specific day just makes planning easier.
Stick to one region of the world map when you’re exploring or heading out to buy gifts. Ideally, it’s part of Dagda where a side quest objective is, so you can chart the map and get your quest rewards. Either way, the idea is to explore the giant continent in manageable chunks, so your valuable free time isn’t wasted on fruitless spelunking. Map progress made in one fully completed Act 1 will carry over to another character’s Act 1. You don’t have to re-map everywhere you’ve already been.
