Samsung Display, the OLED R&D and manufacturing arm of the Korean chaebol, has developed a method to mass-manufacture OLED panels for phones that can reach 2K resolution and deliver up to 165Hz refresh rates.
2K resolution and 165Hz phone OLED did not come easy
As reported in The Korea Herald and The Korea Times, the current-generation gold standard is “only” up to 1.5K resolution at the same 165Hz refresh rate.
The reports said that the new breakthrough is designed for graphically intense mobile gaming, as it demands more cycles and processing from the chipset in real time.
