This has come out of left field, but Sega has announced that it is partnering with Netflix to produce, not one, but three film adaptations of Sega’s franchises: Crazy Taxi, Sonic and Stranger than Heaven.
The Crazy Taxi film adaptation headlines in the announcement, no doubt due to the upcoming release of Crazy Taxi: World Tour, slated to come out in 2027. Sega stated that the Crazy Taxi adaptation will be a live-action comedy, and is set to be written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who were co-writers for 2025’s The Naked Gun.
The announcement of a Crazy Taxi movie comes as part of a renaissance for the franchise, with Crazy Taxi: World Tour slated for a 2027 release.

Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara are set to produce the Crazy Taxi movie. If those names sound familiar, that’s because they’re the producers for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog film series.
