Springleaf Prata Place, a household name known for its creative takes on the humble prata, is a popular spot for both breakfast and supper in Singapore.
The founder of Springleaf Prata, SV Gunalan, better known as Guna, shared in a 44-minute-long video posted on Saturday (Sept 13) by The Rojak Room about the observations and insights he gathered from years running the business, which now has 12 outlets islandwide.
Speaking to host Jerald Justin Ko, Guna said one thing he noticed was that his customers are primarily Chinese.
“Actually, less than three per cent of my customer base is Indian,” he said to the host’s surprise.
He also revealed that more than 90 per cent of his customers are not Indian.

He said that when the eatery opened in 2003, chicken curry used to be the top choice for customers to pair their prata with.
However, fish curry eventually gained popularity over time as customer tastes evolved.
