
Tom Cruise tearing through the Old Town alleyway Zelezna towards the Estates Theatre; Mozart conducting an opera – these are just a couple of scenes from the many classic films shot in Prague, in the Czech Republic.
Beyond the Cruise spy thriller Mission: Impossible (1996) and Amadeus (1984), winner of eight Oscars, recent films include Blade Runner 2099 and A Place Called Home. Then there are the television shows, says Hedvika Petrzelkova, a public relations officer at the Czech Film Commission. “There are around 30 to 40 film and TV series projects each year,” she says.
