20 people evacuated, 2 taken to hospital after fire breaks out at Pasir Ris flat, Singapore News


Some 20 people were evacuated from a Pasir Ris HDB block on Sunday (Sept 13) morning after a fire broke out in an eighth-floor unit, that resulted in two persons taken to the hospital.

In response to AsiaOne’s queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that the fire, involving a bedroom in the affected unit, happened at about 7.30am at Block 722 Pasir Ris Street 72.

SCDF said its firefighters extinguished the fire using one water jet, adding that three persons from the unit had self-evacuated prior to its arrival.

Police and SCDF officers evacuated about 20 residents from the affected block during firefighting operation as a precautionary measure.

A total of two persons were taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Realtor Zudrya Zamhasbi of Dyra Property shared a video of the incident showing thick smoke billowing from the affected unit.
