The first glimpses of DC Studios’ The People v. Gorilla Grodd indicates it’s shaping up to be just as wacky as a TV show about a talking genius gorilla hailing from the creators of American Vandal could possibly get.
The People v. Gorilla Grodd is an eight-part true crime documentary series hosted by The Daily Planet’s Jimmy Olsen (once again played by Superman’s Skyler Gisondo), who is investigating whether Grodd was wrongly imprisoned for killing his father, King Grodd.
Jimmy Tatro has been cast as Gorilla Grodd, but the actor recently explained that his role is mostly voice work and that motion-capture will be used to record his facial expressions.
That would explain why there’s a performer in a gorilla costume in the set photos and videos all over social media while the production films at Georgia Institute of Technology. It’s likely the suit performer is a stand-in for what will eventually become a CGI character.
