A Killzone remaster is in the works, according to a report from Mp1st. The article claims that Guerrilla Games is teaming up with a third-party studio, and while Mp1st couldn’t get “definitive confirmation,” they’re led to believe it’s with People Can Fly, the studio behind Bulletstorm and Outriders, as well as a co-developer on multiple Gears of War titles.
Guerrilla Games is currently working on Horizon Hunters Gathering, a multiplayer monster-hunting game set in the Horizon universe. The report claims that the Killzone remaster “was supposed to be Guerilla’s next focus,” but since the Horizon spin-off has been rebooted due to “negative feedback,” the studio is now prioritizing getting that back on track.
Killzone was, once upon a time, PlayStation’s premier FPS series. The first game, released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2, received mixed reviews, with a Metacritic score of just 70/100. Its sequel, Killzone 2, raised the bar to 91 and won numerous awards.
