A Colonel who served with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) died, with former colleagues and community responders remembering him as a kind, dedicated and charismatic leader.
COL Abdullah Abu Bakar Bafadhal died on Monday (Aug 31). His obituary, published in The Straits Times, was shared on Tuesday by the Facebook page Death Kopitiam Singapore.
News of his passing prompted an outpouring of tributes online, with those who had crossed paths with him commemorating his leadership and the impact he had on others.
One Facebook user who said they briefly met COL Abdullah around 2009 described him as a “naturally gifted and charismatic leader” who was, above all, kind.
Another former colleague said they had the privilege of knowing COL Abdullah and witnessing his dedication to his work as well as the care he showed towards officers under his charge.
