ROAD SAFETY EFFORTS
As speeding remains a key road safety concern, the traffic police are trialling average speed enforcement on Singapore’s expressways, beginning with the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).
This is being done through the progressive testing and calibration of the new Expressway Average Speed Enforcement system.
The system uses police cameras at the entry and exit of an enforcement zone on the expressway to detect and compute a vehicle’s average speed based on the distance travelled and time taken.
