Eight drivers were caught over the past two weeks for providing illegal cross-border ride-hailing services, bringing the total number of cars impounded since July 2025 to 241, said Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Aug 26), Sun said that over 5,000 vehicles were checked by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) during the enforcement period.
The enforcement checks were conducted at the land checkpoints and Changi area, based on regular tip-offs from the National Private Hire Vehicles Association and National Taxi Association, said LTA in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
“We take these enforcement efforts seriously. They help keep cross-border journeys safe for commuters, while protecting the livelihoods of our local point-to-point drivers,” said Sun.
