Yew Tee food court dispute ends with uncle pushed down


A dispute between a long-haired young man and an elderly man at a food court in Yew Tee allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation, with the younger man seen raising a chair before grabbing the other man’s neck and pushing him to the ground.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident happened at around 10pm on Aug 22 at the Kopitiam food court on the second floor of Yew Tee Square.

The two men were reportedly arguing in front of a stall selling herbal soup.

A video uploaded to the r/SingaporeRaw subreddit in the early hours of Aug 23 shows the young man, who is wearing a brown top, arguing with the older man, who is dressed in a white top with stripes.

At the start of the video, the elderly man can be heard saying in Hokkien: “Don’t threaten me.” He then tells the younger man to stop looking at him.

“I’m looking at you?” the younger man responds.

The elderly man replies: “You want to call someone? Go call!”

As the pair raise their voices, the older man repeatedly challenges him: “So? What’s wrong with looking at someone?”

“You want me to hit you?” the younger man responds.

He appears to walk away, but the older man then shouts: “I’ll wait for you.”

The younger man then tells other diners nearby in Mandarin: “This person is asking to die.”
