Pipe leak in Bukit Timah road disrupts residents’ water supply for several hours

Repairs were completed and water supply was restored to all affected units at 2pm on the same day, said PUB.

A video sent by a resident to Shin Min Daily News shows a jet of water – resembling a small fountain – gushing up from the ground, creating a pool of water on the road surface.

PUB is investigating the cause of the pipe leak.

There have been a few other cases of pipe leaks and burst pipes in 2026.

Such leaks caused flooding in Yishun in May and in Ang Mo Kio in January, while burst pipes disrupted water supply to HDB neighbourhoods including Pek Kio in June and Boon Keng in January.

The incident in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 caused water to overflow into a nearby SPC petrol station, while about 25 shops in Yishun’s Chong Pang neighbourhood were affected after an underground pipe leaked and led to flooding in the area.

A burst pipe in a Housing Board block in Pek Kio disrupted water supply for more than seven hours, while residents of 29 households in a Boon Keng HDB block could not use their toilets for hours because of a burst sewage pipe.
