Watching Lim train, few would guess she is in her 80s. She pulls herself smoothly over a bar, completes feet-elevated push-ups and moves through controlled squats while holding a dumbbell against her chest.
Before discovering strength training, Lim’s exercise routine was far less demanding. After retiring from a career in human resources and consulting, she mainly walked lightly on a treadmill. “For 15 years I coasted along, but I was looking to be stronger,” Lim told Business Insider.

Her fitness journey began eight years ago when her daughter Yan Lin, 43, encouraged her to train together instead of exercising alone. Progress came gradually. Within a year, Lim could complete a sit-up without assistance. Four years later, she managed her first chin-up.
Yan and her brother Tiat Lim are fitness trainers and co-founders of Bespoke Fitness, a gym and personal training center in Singapore, according to the South China Morning Post.
The siblings became deeply committed to fitness after their father died suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 69.
