6-car chain collision takes place in far-right lane of PIE

Two people were sent to the hospital on Saturday (8 Aug) after a chain collision along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).

Footage of the aftermath posted on TikTok showed six cars lined up mostly in a row in the far-right lane, except for three cars that were squashed together at the end.

Honda badly damaged in front & rear

According to the clip, a white car was at some distance in front of the pack, with its rear bumper damaged and partially dislodged.

A few metres behind was a silver Honda that had been badly smashed, with its hood folded up and its licence plate having dropped off.

Its rear was also damaged, having been hit by a black car.

3 cars squashed together at the back

Behind the black car were three cars squashed together in one lane.

At the end of the queue was another badly damaged Honda that had crashed into the back of a sport-utility vehicle (SUV).

The far-right lane was cordoned off by the authorities, with a Land Transport Authority (LTA) traffic marshal interviewing people at the scene.

Several people stood next to the accident vehicles, with debris scattered across the road.

2 sent to hospital after PIE chain collision

In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 12.20pm on 8 Aug.

It took place along the PIE in the direction of Tuas, after the Jalan Eunos exit.

Two people were conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) told MS News that one of them was a 21-year-old woman, who was a passenger in one of the cars.
