It might soon become an offence if you knowingly allow someone else to use your social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, TikTok, or Carousell for criminal activities, including scams. The Ministry of Home Affairs introduced the Scams (Countermeasures) and Other Matters Bill in Parliament today (Aug. 4) which proposed several new offences such as: 🚫 providing your personal information for the registration of online accounts for criminal activity 🚫 possessing an online account registered under another person for criminal activity 🚫 supplying an online account to someone for criminal activity 🚫 receiving an online account for the use of criminal activity These proposed offences apply only to online accounts offered by online services designated under the Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA). mothershipparliament
