Wonder Man star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has responded to the shock cancellation of his critically-acclaimed Disney+ series, just months after the show was renewed.
Writing on Instagram, Abdul-Mateen confirmed earlier reports that Marvel had reversed course on the series’ continuation, though offered no further clue as to why this decision had been made.
Launched back in January to rave reviews and a subsequent Emmy nomination for Abdul-Mateen’s performance, the series followed Abdul-Mateen’s struggling actor Simon and Ben Kingsley’s beloved Marvel character Trevor Slattery, the veteran thespian. A brilliantly-written buddy comedy, the series revealed that both characters held a secret from the other as they warmed to each other and navigated the ups and downs of life in Hollywood â something that now seems cruelly ironic.
