S’porean Content Creator Loses S$800 Buying Fake EXO Concert Tix From Scammer, Who Then Used Her Photo To Trick Other Victims

She believed the seller and transferred another S$200.

The seller then allegedly claimed the wrong ticket had been transferred and asked Clara to send another S$450 so the issue could be “resolved”.

“So, I transferred lor. I’m so stupid, so I lost S$800 in total because I wanted to watch my EXO concert,” she lamented.

They presumably eventually arranged to meet up, and the biggest twist came when Clara arrived at the meeting point. She’d earlier sent the seller a selfie of her at the spot outside the stadium to let them know she was there.

Instead of using the photo to find her, she claims the scammer sent it to other victims.

She realised this when two strangers approached Clara and asked: “Are you the person selling the ticket?'”

Confused, Clara replied that she wasn’t and that she was waiting for her ticket too.

Clara said she later made a police report, informed her bank and changed all her banking details as a precaution.

She says she doesn’t expect to get her money back. Instead, she hopes sharing what happened will stop someone else from making the same mistake.

“It’s been three days already, but it still keeps haunting me. I’m doing this to record one stupid moment in my life, so hopefully nobody else has to go through this nonsense,” she admitted.

Unfortunately, Clara’s experience isn’t an isolated one.

According to the Singapore Police Force, there were 722 reported concert ticket scam cases between January and October 2025, with victims losing at least S$615,000.

While full-year figures for 2026 have yet to be released, police recently revealed that at least 62 cases, involving more than S$68,200 in losses, were linked to the recent BTS ticket sales alone.

Police also noted that scammers are increasingly approaching victims through X, whereas previous cases were more commonly linked to platforms such as Carousell and Telegram.

Clara’s biggest takeaway? “Don’t buy from [X]. It’s really full of fake scammers,” she says.
