WhatsApp rolls out new features for CarPlay & more

WhatsApp has announced a fresh batch of features designed to improve the messaging experience across multiple platforms, from the iPad and desktop, to cars running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Account setup on iPad

One of the biggest additions is support for creating a WhatsApp account directly on the iPad, eliminating the need to link it to an existing smartphone.

According to WhatsApp, this has been one of the most requested features since it launched the native iPad app last year. Users can now set up and use WhatsApp independently on their iPad, making it a more capable messaging platform for those who primarily work or study on Apple’s tablet.

Improved Android Auto and CarPlay experience

Drivers can now listen to and reply to messages, make WhatsApp calls, view recent call history and quickly access favourite contacts directly from their vehicle’s infotainment display.

Edit PDFs without leaving WhatsApp

Instead of downloading PDF files, you can now open documents directly within WhatsApp on the web and desktop apps. Basic editing tools, including highlighting and annotating, are available without leaving the conversation, making it easier to collaborate on documents and provide quick feedback.

Share music from Apple Music and Spotify

WhatsApp is also making it easier to share what you’re listening to.

Users can now post songs directly from Apple Music or Spotify to their WhatsApp Status, allowing friends and contacts to discover music without manually copying links or taking screenshots.

Availability

WhatsApp says these features are already rolling out. The latest update aims to make the instant messaging platform more versatile for both work and everyday communication.
