In the TikTok reel posted on July 11, Ilyas Elmi said the highlight of his Singapore trip was neither the attractions nor the food, but the sense of safety that allowed him to walk alone at night without worry, Singaporean news site Stomp reported.
He admitted Singapore was “slowly creeping up the list” of his favorite destinations.
“I can hold my phone in the middle of the street just like this, by myself, and nobody does [anything to me],” he said of the country which was ranked the world’s second-richest by GDP per capita last year by the Economist.
“It’s really safe. You can come here solo if you like. You’ll be completely fine,” he said, adding that the warmth of the locals was another reason he enjoyed Singapore.

“The people here are so nice. They’re so down to earth. I haven’t had a single bad interaction since I arrived,” he said.
