Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong was in Kazan, Russia, from June 17 to 18 for the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit, which marked 35 years of ASEAN-Russia relations and 30 years of the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership. At the summit, ASEAN and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to deeper cooperation. Wong called on countries to uphold international law and the rules-based international order, and reiterated ASEAN’s consistent call for parties involved in conflicts to exercise restraint, return to dialogue, and to pursue the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law. He also stressed that Singapore’s position on Ukraine was not because of alignment with any side but because of Singapore’s consistent commitment to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. mothershipabroad
