New home for Centre for Domestic Employees will prepare more helpers to work in Singapore


A new home for the Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE) will be able to prepare 20 per cent more first-time workers to Singapore every month. The space will be able to host up to 3,000 interviews monthly, to help domestic workers settle into a new environment and educate them on safe work practices. The new space along Bukit Timah Road comes as the centre marks its 10th anniversary this year. At the same time, 377 migrant domestic workers have also completed supplementary courses ranging from eldercare, first aid and childcare. The CDE rolled out such pilot programmes from March last year to meet evolving caregiving needs. Caitlin Ng with more.
