‘Technical issues’ with display of bus arrival timings, but bus services operating normally: LTA

In the notification, LTA apologised for the inconvenience caused and said that it is working to resolve the issue.

The bus arrival timing system also faced technical issues in January, causing inaccurate bus timings and long wait times to be displayed at bus stops and in apps. LTA initiated a reset of the system on Jan 21, which resulted in bus stop displays and apps being unable to display any information on bus timings.

The root cause of the disruption was a software defect on the buses that was triggered by a server failure, and the system was fully restored on Feb 12.

The timing system faced another disruption in April, after critical underground fibre-optic cables were damaged during construction work, and a backup cable that was meant to transmit the bus location data failed to work.
