M1 Bespoke Flexi: phone protection included

FoneCare+ Lite? 

M1 first introduced FoneCare+ Lite in 2023, offering SIM-only customers one device swap within 12 months, four-hour doorstep delivery and access to one screen repair service from S$99 during the 12-month period. At the time, FoneCare+ Pro sat separately in the line-up as a paid monthly subscription.

This new move is different. FoneCare+ Pro is now built into selected Bespoke Flexi device plans, and the benefits go beyond a single swap. Customers on the qualifying plans get a wider protection suite covering swap, replacement, refresh, battery support and tech help.

However, as covered earlier, it does come free with the Bespoke Flexi 800GB, 1TB and 10TB plans, but for customers on other eligible device plans who still want the cover, FoneCare+ Pro is available as a value-added service at S$12.12 a month, placing it in much the same price bracket as its rival add-ons.

Roaming benefits

M1’s Bespoke Flexi subscribers also have the benefit of having access to M1’s recent changes to its Worldwide Daily Passport, which offers 3GB of roaming data at S$0.99 per day across 78 destinations. The 24-hour window starts only when roaming data is first used overseas, not at midnight or while the user is still in Singapore. Once the 3GB is used up, another 3GB block is automatically activated at the same S$0.99 rate.

The enhanced Bespoke Flexi plans are available now through M1’s online shop and retail channels.

M1 is trying to make the phone plan feel less like a bundle of separate add-ons and more like a complete device package. The phone is financed through the plan. The data allowance is large enough for heavy users. Roaming is simplified for travel. Protection is included for the expensive device sitting in the customer’s hand.

That does not mean customers can skip the fine print. Device swaps, replacements and repairs still come with terms, conditions and possible service fees. But as a mobile plan refresh, this is a cleaner pitch than simply adding more gigabytes.
