Borderlands 4 Pokes Fun At Recent Crit Knife Build Nerf

Gearbox Software posts a humorous clip regarding the recent Borderlands 4 nerfs made to the popular Crit Knife build. It’s been an eventful week already for Borderlands 4 players, who finally received the long-awaited second major update as well as the first seasonal event.

Borderlands 4 Players Have Until October 11 to Redeem 3 More Shift Codes

For weeks, players have been anticipating big changes being made to the game and this week, that finally happened. Borderlands 4 released its second major update, which brought a substantial number of tweaks, improvements, and balancing to the game. It also brought an end to a very popular build thanks to a combination of bleed effects and critical hit damage being able to recursively stack over and over.

The Borderlands 4 Crit Knife Nerf May Not Be as Bad as Thought

After Gearbox delayed the second major Borderlands 4 update, it finally arrived this week alongside the Horrors of Kairos seasonal event. The big talking point for many, including some developers, was the upcoming nerf to Vex’s popular bleed build as well as the Crit Knife. Following the nerf, Gearbox released a cheeky “In Memoriam” style video for the Crit Knife, highlighting clips of characters using it to deal massive damage to enemies.

While the video was clearly designed to be tongue in cheek, especially after Gearbox developers kept warning Borderlands 4 players about the upcoming nerf, many of the comments on the video were surprisingly positive. Some played along with the video, and of course, there were some still venting their frustrations over the changes made to a PvE game. However, community sentiment, including individuals like Moxsy and EpicNNG, appears to be more positive, discovering that the nerfs in general aren’t terrible and while absolutely not on par with how it worked pre-patch, some are still dealing substantial damage to enemies.

The Borderlands 4 patch also made some big quality of life changes, some of which flew under the radar. One user shared a major change made for players creating new characters after finishing the campaign, as Gearbox unlocked fast travel points and Faction Towns for players to use. It’s a nice improvement for fresh level 30 characters that were previously forced to manually discover and unlock everything from scratch. For now, fans continue to wait for additional tweaks, such as SDU upgrades transferring between characters on the same account.
