SINGAPORE: Victims have lost at least S$3.6 million (US$2.8 million) since May this year to investment scams involving chat groups that claimed to offer free opportunities to learn investing.
At least 48 cases have been reported since last month, the police said in an advisory on Thursday (Jun 4).Â
This scam variant involves luring victims using fake social media advertisements that purportedly offer opportunities to learn about investing.Â
