Acer Predator Atlas 8: New handheld gaming PC

It’s been a while since Acer last tended to its gaming handhelds lineup. While companies like ASUS and Lenovo are going full steam ahead, Acer’s last handheld PC releases were the Nitro Blaze 8 and 11, which were announced during CES 2025. Well, just ahead of Computex 2026, the company has announced the Predator Atlas 8, a handheld gaming PC that expands the Predator sub-brand portfolio..

A key feature of the Atlas 8 is the use of Intel Arc G-series chips, a new slate of CPUs from team blue that aim to compete with AMD’s Ryzen Z chips in the handheld market. The new Intel chips are built on the Panther Lake architecture (the same platform as the Core Ultra Series 3 processors), with a lineup currently consisting of the Intel Arc G3 and G3 Extreme.

Acer’s new handheld PC will come with either of those processors depending on the model you choose, and this is particularly relevant for graphics. Both chips come with integrated Intel graphics, with the standard G3 using a 10 Xe core Arc B370 GPU, with the G3 Extreme bumping it up to a 12 Xe core Arc B390 GPU.

Those GPU names should be familiar if you’ve been tracking Intel’s recent mobile chip developments, as they’re the same integrated graphics found in Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 laptop CPUs. It’s not mentioned whether there are any TDP adjustments, but it’s a possibility, given that the Atlas 8 comes with only a 60Wh or 80Wh battery.

The Predator is shaping up to be a test of Intel’s ambitions in the handheld PC sphere, but just to round out the rest of the spec sheet, the Atlas 8 comes with up to 24GB of LPDDR5x memory, up to a 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD (there’s an SD card slot as well), and two fans – one plastic fan, and another Predator AeroBlade metal fan, which features 89 blades of 0.1mm thickness.

As for the components you can actually see, the Predator Atlas 8 has an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus. They’re joined by two 2-Watt speakers with DTS:X Ultra audio.

The Atlas 8 features macro buttons on the back, as well as hall effect analog triggers. The triggers notably come with two modes: micro-switch, where there is set actuation point providing an instant-click response (useful for FPSes), or full-range analog control, where you can utilise the full travel length of the triggers for gradual control (more useful for racing games).

Finally, the Predator Atlas 8 comes shipped with Windows 11 Home, as well as 2 months of Xbox Game Pass Premium and 3 months of PC Game Pass. They have to be claimed within 30 days of device activation, and you’ll have to remember to cancel them when the free subscription period ends if you don’t wish to continue paying for them.

Pricing and Availability

The Acer Predator Atlas 8 is set to be available in North America, Australia and the EMEA region starting from October 2026, though Acer didn’t mention availability for the APAC region or Singapore specifically. Pricing also has not been announced yet.
