Valve’s new Steam Controller launches 4 May

Valve has confirmed the launch details for its new Steam Controller, with the controller set to go on sale from 4 May at a price of US$99.

The controller is part of a broader push into gaming hardware that also includes the upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame, although those machines have been delayed – due to rising memory and other component costs – and are still without firm release timelines.

Will the Steam Controller ever launch in Singapore? Who knows.

This new iteration marks a return for Valve’s controller lineup, building on lessons from its earlier design and the more recent Steam Deck handheld. It retains features such as dual trackpads while sporting a more conventional layout, alongside additional buttons and expanded customisation options aimed at PC gamers who prefer couch-style play.

Like other Steam-compatible peripherals, the controller is designed to work across a range of platforms, including PCs, Macs and mobile devices running the Steam ecosystem.

Local availability

For now, the Steam Controller appears to be launching first in the United States, with no official confirmation of availability in Singapore or other Southeast Asian markets. As with previous Valve hardware, regional rollout details could take some time to surface.
