LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith Leak

Images showing the long-awaited LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set have leaked online, revealing the colossal Middle-earth city in all of its glory.

Weighing in at a reported 8,278 pieces, it is the biggest LEGO Lord of the Rings set ever, significantly larger than Rivendell (6,167 bricks) and the towering Barad-dûr (a paltry 5,471).

Unfortunately, alongside that huge brick count comes a high cost. Fans are expecting Minas Tirith to be priced at $649.99 when it launches on June 1 — so begin fasting on lembas bread now if you want to pick it up.

What do all those bricks get you? As you might expect, the set’s main Minas Tirith design is scaled down to fit a complete version of the iconic city, from its front gates to prominent cliff edge, and towering white Citadel.

The reverse of the build, meanwhile, features a clever cut-away to the Citadel’s interior, where minifigures of Pippin and Denethor can recreate Return of the King’s memorable tomato-popping song scene. Indeed, minifigures of the two characters are reportedly both included, alongside King Aragorn (spoiler!), Gandalf, Faramir, four Gondor soldiers and Shadowfax the horse.

While LEGO is yet to make its Minas Tirith design official, this has been one of the most widely-leaked and highly-anticipated sets of recent years — with these new images coming from instruction manuals posted online by fans. The design matches one that LEGO itself accidentally showcased via Instagram previously, before pulling offline.

With June 1 approaching, we’re expecting LEGO to imminently make its Minas Tirith set official — stay tuned for more when that happens.
