A Singaporean TikTok user, Shawn Peter (@shawnanthonypeter), recently took to TikTok to share his experience of being caught by the Central Narcotic Bureau (CNB) for substance use.
Shawn emphasised that he was sharing his experience purely for his own documentation purposes and not to glorify or promote substance use. He also added that he is now completely clean and no longer uses any substances.
Recalling the day of his arrest on April 19, 2022, around 8am, he said: “I was getting ready all my paraphernalia to get high. For those of you who don’t know what paraphernalia is, it’s basically the tools that you use alongside your substances to help you get high.”
He said he went about his routine as “normal”, adding with a chuckle that it was “normal” for him at the time, before putting his items away in a cupboard and had breakfast.
It was after finishing his breakfast that Shawn heard loud, persistent knocks on his front door.
“In that moment, my heart sank, because I knew that it was not going to be a makcik trying to sell me kueh at 8am in the morning with that kind of aggression,” he said.
Shawn also shared that about a month before his arrest, he had a feeling he would be caught for substance abuse “sometime in the future”, but said he was “rebellious and complacent” and ignored it.
Looking through the peephole, he recalled seeing a group of people with lanyards, and immediately deduced they were CNB officers.
“I started panicking a little bit, and keep in mind, I was very high. I went back to my room and I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to take my paraphernalia and substances and put it in a different room, but then I was thinking, ‘What if some of my family members get implicated as well?’” he said.
He then left the items in his room and opened the door, recalling the CNB officers entering his home and one pushing him so hard he landed “in the middle of [the] living room”.
