Developer Level-5 shared new details on a host of its upcoming games in a Level-5 Vision showcase. The live stream featured some long-awaited updates on games like Professor Layton and the World of Steam and the long-delayed Decapolice.
Level-5, the developer behind last year’s hit Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, kicked off the stream by acknowledging the rise of AI and saying that it has pushed the studio to raise its commitment to human craftsmanship. It’s a notable mission statement considering that Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino came under fire last year for making positive comments about AI’s future in game development.
From there, the stream was solely focused on giving some updates on Level-5’s upcoming games. Highlights included a new trailer for Professor Layton and the World of Steam, a mobile port of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, and a very small sign of life for Decapolice. Here’s the full list of announcements from the stream.
Professor Layton and the World of Steam
We got an extensive new look at Professor Layton and the World of Steam, which Level-5 says is almost done developing. A new trailer showed off the setup of its mystery, which revolves around a phantom gunman and a kidnapped heiress, and gave us a glimpse at several puzzles. It’s still scheduled to release in 2026, but it doesn’t have a firm release date yet. It will also launch on PS5 and Windows PC alongside the previously announced Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions.
