Man shocked to be told travel insurance he bought with Trip.com not valid due to wrong date


A traveller was shocked when he was informed that the travel insurance he bought with Trip.com would not be valid as the travel dates did not match.

Trip.com has since clarified that it was a misunderstanding.

Stomper Cedric had made the booking with Trip.com in 2025 for a trip with his mother to Bangkok departing on March 30 and returning on April 5.

“Before confirming the payment, there was an option asking if I was keen to add-on travel insurance upon checkout,” recounted Cedric. “I decided that since I needed to buy travel insurance eventually, I might just get it done now.”

About two weeks before the trip, he decided to go through the travel insurance policies to check that they were okay.

“To my shock, the return date is wrong,” said the Stomper. “My travel dates are from March 30 to April 5, but my travel insurance policies’ dates are from March 30 to April 8!

“I contacted the insurance company and was informed that if the dates don’t coincide with the actual travel dates, all potential claims will not be valid. They advised me to contact Trip.com to change the dates instead.”
