Singapore penalizes 422 landlords over unreported rental income



Singapore has penalized 422 landlords for failing to properly declare rental income, a 50% jump from the roughly 280 cases recorded in 2023, according to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

In its latest audit covering 2024 to 2025, IRAS investigated 793 property owners after spotting discrepancies in their income tax filings related to rental income.

Following the audit, IRAS recovered SGD4.8 million (US$3.7 million) in additional taxes and penalties, nearly four times the SGD1.3 million recovered in the previous exercise reported in 2023.
