Singtel offers data & bill rebates after network issues


Shortly after the IT Show 2026 ended, where Singtel promoted its new Sweetch promotions, the telco company met with technical and mechanical faults that plagued its consumer prepaid and postpaid mobile services. It began on 16th March 2026 and lasted intermittently throughout the week, affecting various mobile customers in ripples. On our forums, over 400 replies were tallied in this merged discussion thread, as affected and unaffected HWZ Forum members exchanged updates and connectivity status during the period.

Slightly over a week later, on 23rd March 2026, Singtel informed that they’ve restored all network services:-

What Postpaid users are getting

Today, Singtel has begun outreach to all its affected postpaid customers via SMS with a token of appreciation for their patience during the network outage period with bill rebates ranging between S$5 and S$10 for their postpaid customers. Here’s a sample of the SMS received by actual customers:-

Regarding the varying bill rebate figures, our Singtel spokesperson gave us this advisory:

The rebate has been assessed based on their services with us. This token will be reflected in our customers’ next bill. No action is required on their part. Please note that Singtel customers will only receive SMS notifications from official Singtel channels, and we will not request for any personal or banking details. We encourage customers to verify the authenticity of any communication and contact us directly if they are unsure.

This is applicable even if you’re an affected customer using SIM-Only plans.

What about Prepaid users?

Singtel’s prepaid customers will also be taken care of, with 50GB bonus data valid for a period of 7 days from the time they receive an SMS. According to our Singtel spokesperson:-

They will be progressively informed of this from Thursday, 2 April 2026, to Tuesday, 7 April 2026. This token will be reflected in our customers’ next bill. No action is required on their part.

For example, if a prepaid user has 200GB of data allocated for the month, the moment they receive an SMS notifying them of the bonus 50GB of data, data usage will be deducted from the bonus allotment (valid for 7 days) before their regular data bucket is touched.
