YAHOO POLL: Would you pay more to live in Singapore’s tallest flats?

Singapore’s tallest HDB flats are on the way, with Pearl’s Hill set to exceed 60 storeys. That’s taller than Pinnacle@Duxton, which has held the crown at 50 storeys since 2009.

It’s part of a trend: there are now 119 HDB blocks across 35 projects under construction that rise above 40 storeys, up sharply from just 46 blocks in 2011. The city is building upward.

Residents enjoy prestige and sweeping views. But they also face higher service charges and occasional lift delays.

At Pinnacle@Duxton, monthly conservancy fees hit $132.10, compared to $81.70 for typical four-room flats.

Despite costs, resale demand is strong. Buyers are drawn to the skyline lifestyle and central locations.

Singapore’s housing strategy is clear: maximise land use by building taller. The question is whether residents are ready.

Social mixing is part of the plan. Pearl’s Hill will include 140 rental flats alongside owner-occupied units.

Would you choose height, prestige and views – or convenience and lower costs? Have your say and take our poll.
