Singapore said it will engage with US trade authorities after being included in new trade investigations launched by the administration of President Donald Trump. Officials said they intend to clarify trade data and discuss the probe with the Office of the US Trade Representative, Reuters reported.

The investigation was launched under Section 301 of the US Trade Act, which allows Washington to examine foreign trade practices considered unfair and potentially impose tariffs or other penalties. Singapore’s government said it does not engage in unfair trade practices and will provide information to clarify its position.
