A nine-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he was hit by a taxi while crossing the road on a kick scooter.
Stompers Thames and Lee alerted Stomp to the incident that happened at the junction of Middle Road and Bencoolen Street in Bugis on Oct 13.
Thames shared footage from his in-car camera.
The video shows the boy crossing on his kick scooter just after the traffic lights turn green in favour of the ComfortDelGro taxi.
The boy’s shoes are seen flying as he is flung a couple of metres after getting hit.
“The taxi driver called the police and helped the boy to the roadside after the accident,” said Thames.
“The boy didn’t appear to have severe external injuries but he had trouble moving his left leg and left hand.
“I didn’t stay long so as not to obstruct traffic.
“I hope more young people will be advised not to dash across the road like this boy.”
In response to Stomp queries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident at 2.40pm and 2.45pm, respectively.
The nine-year-old pedestrian was conscious when he was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
ComfortDelGro told Stomp that its taxi team is reaching out to the pedestrian to offer assistance and support.
“A police report has been filed, and we are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation,” a company spokesperson said.
Police investigations are ongoing.
