A couple of strangers allegedly entered a homeowner’s new Built-To-Order (BTO) flat in Woodlands without permission while it was under renovation.
Stomper Jason, who owns a unit at Block 372A Woodlands Avenue 1 in Woodgrove Ascent, told Stomp that the incident has left many new residents concerned about security in the estate.
“Someone entered our new BTO flat without our knowledge or consent,” he shared.
“There are valuables inside the unit, and recently we noticed that some items had gone missing.”
He added that the missing items included small hardware tools such as a measuring tape.
After noticing things were amiss, Jason installed a camera to monitor any unauthorised entry.
On Oct 13 at about 1.40pm, the footage showed an unfamiliar elderly couple walking into the unit.
The man seen pushing a trolley works for the renovation company engaged by the Stomper.
The couple are seen walking behind him before entering Jason’s flat.
“The older couple acted as if they were the homeowner or relatives but we don’t even know who they are,” he said.
“The renovation team member thought that they were related to us by the way they were behaving.
“Our next-door neighbours have not even collected their keys yet so it’s obvious this couple just entered pretending they are related when they are clearly not.”
He added that he wanted to share this incident because he’s worried other residents have faced or could face similar situations.
“Unauthorised entry into someone’s home is trespassing and a serious matter,” he warned.
“Please be cautious and ensure no one enters your unit without permission.”
In screenshots of a group chat seen by Stomp, other residents in Jason’s block have since reported seeing strangers wandering around the estate and opening dry riser doors.
Some are now considering installing cameras as a precaution too.
The Stomper shared that he and his family are considering filing a police report and hopes his experience will serve as a reminder for other new homeowners to stay vigilant, especially during renovation works.
“We just want to raise awareness so that others can protect their homes,” he said. “Let’s all look out for one another.”
