A widening gap between the recognition of sleep’s importance and the actions taken to improve sleep health is a key finding from the sixth annual Global Sleep Survey, released by Resmed.
Drawing insights from 30,000 people across 13 countries, including 1,000 in Singapore, the survey reveals that while 51% of respondents in Singapore rank sleep as the most important contributor to long-term health, many are not taking meaningful steps to improve it.
While 86% of respondents in Singapore understand that consistent, quality sleep can help extend a healthy lifespan, awareness has not translated into consistent results. The majority of respondents (57%) report getting a good night’s sleep only four nights a week or fewer. This highlights a persistent gap between knowing sleep is critical and being able to prioritise it as part of a healthy lifestyle.
