SINGAPORE – A sailor who molested two women at Lucky Plaza shopping mall in Orchard has been sentenced to six weeks’ jail by a district court here.
On Oct 8, Ukraine national Skripnik Oleksandr, 50, pleaded guilty to two counts of outrage of modesty.
Two counts of voluntarily causing hurt, one charge of uttering words and making a gesture intended to insult the modesty of another person, and another charge of being a public nuisance were taken into consideration for his sentencing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Zhou Yang told the court that Oleksandr disembarked from a vessel in Singapore on Aug 27 and was scheduled to fly to the Netherlands on Aug 31.
The first victim, who was a security supervisor at Lucky Plaza, encountered Oleksandr at the shopping mall on Aug 30.
As she was returning to her office after patrolling the mall, Oleksandr and his male friend walked towards her while intoxicated, talking and laughing loudly.
DPP Zhou said Oleksandr had earlier consumed at least two cans of beer in a pub at Lucky Plaza.
