A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck 32km off Taiwan’s northeastern coastal city of Yilan on the night of Dec 27. The quake was felt across northern Taiwan, shaking buildings in multiple counties and cities, including Taipei. Local media reported ceiling tiles falling at Taoyuan International Airport due to the tremors. No injuries were reported, and airport personnel are conducting checks.
