The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has issued warnings to Worker’s Party (WP) leader Pritam Singh and Mediacorp for contempt of court on Dec. 19, following an interview Singh gave on CNA’s The Assembly programme. The interview, recorded in July and aired on Nov. 5, featured Singh commenting on the court case of former WP MP Raeesah Khan. Singh later said he accepted that his remarks may have been construed to be in contempt of court, including to impugn the integrity, propriety or impartiality of the court. Both Singh and Mediacorp have since apologised. Singh gave an apology on Dec. 13, while Mediacorp said it has taken down the interview and will avoid publishing content in contempt of court in the future.
