Tech YouTuber Lamarr Wilson Has Died at Age 48


On December 19, officials confirmed that content creator Lamarr Wilson, known for his comedic tech videos on YouTube and other platforms, had died at age 48. Wilson’s family first shared the news in a December 13 post on Facebook, and fans of the late YouTube creator expressed their condolences across social media.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 22, 1977, Wilson first created his YouTube channel in 2008. Over 17 years, most of Wilson’s content focused on his unboxing videos and comedic reviews of tech products, video games, and various smart devices. Wilson eventually came to be known as “That Unboxing Guy” throughout YouTube. Some of Wilson’s more recent videos include reviews of the latest iPhone lineup and the Nintendo Switch 2 game console. During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson turned his attention to making short-form content on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, rather than the longer videos that he had posted throughout most of his YouTube career.

Lamarr Wilson Died Weeks After His 48th Birthday

One of Wilson’s last public appearances took place in late October 2025, when he attended the Forbes Creator Upfronts event in Los Angeles, sharing a picture on Instagram to mark the occasion. Wilson’s last video before his death was posted on November 12 across various platforms, where he focused on Belkin charging stations. Concerns about Wilson and his health started shortly after the video went live, as he remained absent from social media for several days. Weeks later, Wilson’s family revealed on December 13 that the popular content creator had died. Wilson’s remaining family stated that they were heartbroken by the news and said that he had several projects still in development with various tech and media companies.
