An elderly bus passenger has been caught on video berating a man — purportedly a foreign worker — and challenging him to a fight, leaving netizens riled and confused.
The 38-second clip, uploaded to Facebook, starts with the elderly man – standing with his back to the camera — telling a younger man not to talk so loudly.
The latter, who has taken a seat reserved for the elderly or handicapped, regards him impassively and replies: “Now you are louder.”
The older man utters an expletive, but the younger one remains unfazed, gesturing to another part of the bus and telling the older man: “Sit.”
“You want to fight?” says the elderly man. “I am a Singaporean, you know. You know who you are, behave yourself.”
He mutters something unintelligible before telling the man to “keep your mouth shut”. The younger man replies: “Can I talk nicely?” before the clip ends.
The clip, shared on Facebook page Singapore incidents on Dec 10, has so far garnered at least 82,000 views, 688 reactions and 247 comments.
