Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the actor best known for playing the villainous sorcerer Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat franchise, died on Thursday in Santa Barbara at the age of 75. His representative confirmed that he passed away due to complications from a stroke.
Tagawa’s screen career began with Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Last Emperor, followed by a prominent role as Kwang in the James Bond film Licence to Kill. Over the years, he built a steady presence in television as well, appearing in Nash Bridges and making guest appearances on numerous series including Miami Vice, Knots Landing, Moonlighting and Baywatch.
