However, all of that hype may now seem disappointing as fans see the months go by without the game in their hands.

Rockstar Announced the First GTA 6 Trailer Two Years Ago Today
Rockstar confirmed the first GTA 6 trailer’s release date and time on December 1, 2023, meaning it’s now been two full years since the announcement. The trailer itself would drop on December 4, a day earlier than expected, so that debut will also pass the two-year mark in a matter of days. Watching the video now may sting a bit for fans, as it promised a 2025 launch, but now GTA 6 is looking to come out a year later than originally intended. Despite such a long wait, fans still don’t know much about the game. The second trailer and subsequent website updates from Rockstar revealed some more details, including the names of a few key characters and the fact that the story will center around Jason and Lucia getting wrapped up in a criminal conspiracy, but specifics are still a mystery.
Days before the second trailer dropped, Rockstar made the now-infamous announcement that GTA 6 would be delayed until May 2026. Fast-forward to today, and the company has delayed GTA 6 a second time, pushing it back to November 19, 2026. Controversy around recent layoffs and rumors of a high price tag have also cast shadows over the game, but there has been positive news, too, with some insiders praising the game, even going so far as to say it deserves the $100 some say it could cost. Others have suggested the game is nearly complete, too, which should lower the chances of a third delay, although nothing is certain, especially with Rockstar remaining tight-lipped about the game’s development.
Barring another delay, GTA 6 has almost a year to go until its long-awaited launch. That leaves plenty of time for another look at the game, although it’s uncertain when any such information will come out. While some are holding out for a third GTA 6 trailer at The Game Awards, that seems unlikely, but Rockstar is known to subtly tease things before surprise-releasing trailers and announcements outside large events. GTA 5 had nine trailers before its release, so it seems likely that GTA 6 will get at least one or two more. For now, though, fans only have two trailers dropped over the past two years as they wait for one of modern gaming’s most anticipated release days.
