Escape From Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov has commented on some of the updates planned for the game through the end of 2025. Following a difficult 1.0 launch, it seems Escape From Tarkov players are in for an exciting ride for the rest of the year.
Escape From Tarkov entered 1.0 and was released on Steam on November 15, immediately facing massive server troubles. Many players were unable to play the game, leading Buyanov to apologize for the early Escape From Tarkov problems online. This was not before Escape From Tarkov was review-bombed on Steam, receiving a “Mixed” rating that it still holds to this day. After years of anticipation, it was a shame that it had such a rough launch.

Escape From Tarkov Has Plenty of Updates Coming Over The Next Few Months
Regardless of the recent Escape From Tarkov issues, game director Nikita Buyanov took to X to explain the game’s plans for the near future. According to Buyanov, Battlestate Games is going to use the upcoming period to “prioritize and get more and more fixes and improvements into the game.” There will also be “winter in Tarkov, new storyline quests, new event,” as well as “traditional New Year TarkovTV in December.”
Buyanov also spoke about the “introduction of seasonal character with the whole new seasons system,” but claims that it will arrive “sometime after” the aforementioned updates. As a result, it’s very unlikely this will make it into an Escape From Tarkov update for 2025. Still, it’s good to know that Battlestate Games feels it has plenty to do to continue improving the Escape From Tarkov experience going forward, and it could make for a very exciting 2026 for the game.
Looking a little further into the future, it was confirmed earlier this year that Escape From Tarkov is coming to consoles and will receive its first post-launch DLC, Scav Life. Neither of these things seem likely to release anytime soon, and gamers are probably looking at the second half of 2026 before they become more realistic prospects.
